University United Methodist Church - Historic Preservation

The Romanesque Revival building church was the inspiration for many of the early buildings at the University of Texas. Years had taken their toll and major restoration was undertaken to restore the damaged exterior.

The tile roof was removed and re-set over new underlayment.  Copper flashing, gutters and downspouts were made to replace or recreate the original items. The exterior masonry was carefully cleaned and delaminated stones were capped with new facing.  Ornamental trim and brackets were restored, repainted, and protected with new copper coverings.  The extensive stained glass windows were restored, repaired, and given protection with new vented frames.
