Ullrich Water Treatment Plant Expansion

The Ullrich Water Treatment Plan was expanded to meet demand for potable water supply in Austin and surrounding Municipal Utility Districts. CasaBella Architects served as the architectural consultant to a large engineering team led by Camp Dresser McKee (CDM), and was hired for its expertise in designing water treatment plants.

The expansion was ambitious and included a 60-mgd increase in water treatment capacity. This project called for two new sedimentation basins, a five-level lime building, a chemical building, an expanded electrical building, and support facilities.

CasaBella worked with CDM to develop a master plan that minimized the impact of the facility on the adjacent residential neighborhood, including innovative use of materials and careful attention to aesthetic elements in this engineering-heavy project.
