Lydia Xynogala is a designer working between New York, Athens and Zurich. Through the making of buildings, objects and writing, her practice ALOS explores the role of architecture in environmental, material and cultural narratives. She has received a fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Greek Architecture Award for best built project by a young architect. Her built projects have been featured in a book by Rizzoli NY and in Wallpaper Magazine, Architectural Digest, Dezeen, Domus,Vogue, Elle, Casaviva. Her writing has been published in e-flux architecture, gta Papers, Yale Paprica, Manifest Journal, pidgin among others. She has presented her work at the MoMa, Storefront gallery, AIA Center for Architecture New York and Van Allen Institute and lectured internationally. In 2021 she was selected to participate in the Onassis AiR, an international artistic research residency in Athens with a focus on ecologies. Lydia holds an M.Arch from Princeton University, a B.Arch from the Cooper Union where she received the Thesis prize and a BSc. from the Bartlett, U.C.L. Xynogala has taught design studios and seminars at Columbia University GSAPP, the City College of New York, The Cooper Union and RPI. She is currently a doctoral fellow at the ETH Zurich, gta Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture. 


The Women in Architecture Committee's mission is to promote, validate, and illuminate the role of women within the architectural field through fostering community, fellowship, education, and outreach.
