Event WiA Bike Tour

Enjoy a bike ride along the route of Guide to Austin Architecture tour: Groundbreaking Women East Austin! This 3.2 mile route highlights female-led projects located in East Austin. Projects featured will include presentations by Donna Carter, FAIA; Heather McKinney, FAIA, Lucy Begg, AIA; Christy Taylor, AIA; Elizabeth Alford, Assoc. AIA; Elizabeth Baird, AIA; and Ada Corral, AIA.

Registration required, limited to 40 riders. Bring your own bike, helmet, and water or rent a Metro Bike. Route begins at Festival Beach and ends at E 12th St. There will be a car accompanying the route in case anyone needs assistance.

1:45pm-2pm- meet at Festival Beach Restroom 

2-2:15pm presentation of Festival Beach by Ada Corral

2:15-2:20pm group bikes to Gati Ice Cream 

2:20-2:35pm presentation of  Gati Ice Cream by Elizabeth Baird

2:35-2:45pm bike to 901 East Sixth *

2:45-3pm presentation of 901 East Sixth by Thoughtbarn/Lucy Begg (via Bart?)*

3-3:10pm group bikes to Paperboy

3:10-3:25pm presentation of Paperboy by Chioco/Christy Taylor

3:25-3:35pm group bikes to African American Cultural and Heritage Facility

3:35- 3:50pm presentation of African American Cultural and Heritage Facility by McKinney York/Heather McKinney

3:50-4pm Group bikes to George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center 

4--4:15pm Presentation of George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center by Donna Carter

4:15-4:25 Group bikes to Next Door Creative Offices 

4:25- 4:40pm Presentation of Next Door Creative Offices by Pollen/Elizabeth Alford
