Join AIA Austin COTE for a special tour of the Norman Hackerman Building on the UT Campus, with CO+Taniguchi Architects;Datum Gojer Engineers; HMG & Associates, Inc; Research Facilities Design (RFD); and Eleanor McKinney Landscape Architect.

The Norman Hackerman Building, a 300,000 sf state-of-the-art teaching and research facility for the College of Natural Sciences, achieved it’s LEED Gold certification through innovative design and engineering approaches, including Lab 21 sustainable strategies.  The building’s design was intended to reflect it’s function as a modern, 21st Century science facility, while respecting the architectural and visual aesthetic of the historical Campus.  A major challenge was maximizing the building footprint on a very constrained site, while fitting in with the scale and context of the surrounding fabric.
