The Girls' School of Austin
2007 McCall Rd
78703 Austin , TX

Founded in 2002, The Girls’ School of Austin provides an intellectually challenging education for girls in a supportive and creative environment. The original Dill Elementary housed the GSA until 2012 when a new campus was constructed to accommodate the growing needs of the school and necessary facility upgrades.  The new 12,400sf campus serves Kindergarten through 8th grade and includes a multi-purpose building, music classrooms, art and science classrooms as well as multiple gardens and play areas throughout the site.  In order to accommodate the large number of significantly-sized existing trees the program was broken up into multiple buildings that fit neatly into the available landscape areas.  The areas formed by separating the structures are used for outdoor activities and serve to open up the campus.  The project is set to receive a 4-star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building Program and incorporates a number of green building designs that are to be an integral part of the education curriculum.  The campus tour will begin with a brief presentation and open panel discussion with the design team, contractor, School representatives and AEGB to discuss the planning process, design directives, community involvement, green building initiatives and the AEGB process.
