Beginnings: a conversation with Best Practice

 

 

About this Course:

A conversation with the architectural firm Best Practice, based in Seattle, Washington. We will be covering topics ranging from launching a small architectural practice, running a small firm and business, upholding the values and regulatory logistics of our profession all while creating healthy and meaningful spaces for the public. 

 

Learning Objective 1: Assess the basic requirements and responsibilities of beginning an architectural practice, from establishing a legal entity to a commitment to uphold the professional practice of architecture in service to the health, safety and welfare of our communities. 

 

Learning Objective 2: Understand the role a small firm can play in a community and beyond to help facilitate the wellbeing of those who are served by their architecture. 

 

Learning Objective 3:Evaluate the principles behind a small firm's approach to best practices, office culture, professionalism and integrity. 

 

Learning Objective 4:Recognize what is involved when beginning and running a small architectural practice while promoting the tenants and values of the architectural profession and exercising our responsibilities to promote through practice the health, safety and welfare of our communities.
