In October of 2013, AIA Austin assembled an advocacy group to focus on the City of Austin’s initiative to revise Austin’s Land Development Code and align it with the principles and priorities of the Imagine Austin Comprehensive Plan. As this is the single most important regulation affecting architects in Austin today, the Land Development Code (LDC) Advocacy Liaison meets with members on a monthly basis to identify key concerns with the existing Austin Land Development Code and current regulatory processes that may prevent the community from realizing the principles outlined in Imagine Austin. We host a free exchange of ideas and information, so please consider joining our discussions. Similar to last year’s charrettes to test the code revision drafts, AIA Austin’s Land Development Code Task Force, including architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, developers, and land-use professionals, spent many hours in October testing the draft revised Code. CodeNEXT Charrette Report
August 1, 2017
The CodeNEXT Charrette was a day-long event organized by AIA Austin that took place on May 9th, 2017 on the campus of St. Edward’s University. The Charrette brought together seven selected teams of professionals, from architects to land-use attorneys, who tested the new code on actual sites.
On August 1, 2017, AIA Austin’s CodeNEXT Charrette Report was sent to Mayor Adler, City Council Members, CodeNEXT Advisory Group Members, Planning Commissioners, Zoning & Platting Commissioners, and CodeNEXT Staff, in order to help the CodeNEXT Staff shape the next draft of CodeNEXT. The final results and recommendations within the report summarize the most prevalent issues that arose from the Charrette.
