In case you missed it, the February Hill Country Tour was incredible:  great architecture, good friends, beautiful weather and terrific food.

Join us as we head way out west for a Hill Country "Peach Jam" Tour of homes designed by AIA Austin architect, Tom Hurt, AIA and a very special property owned by Whit Hanks including designs by Jackson & McElhaney Architects.  Lunch at August E's in Fredricksburg where the peaches will be ripe!

10:30am    HILLTOP HOUSE in Mason, Texas designed by Tom Hurt, AIA and Eva Schone, AIA, LEED AP of Hurt Partners Architects. This extraordinary house -- whose roof cradles the top of a hill overlooking Mason and the Hill Country -- will be the owners' home for entertaining friends and grandkids as well as their new venue for house concerts featuring Texas music artists such as Joe Ely and Tish Hinajosa. Reusing materials from a previous house on the site, the architects worked closely with the owners to integrate their eclectic lifestyles and art into a dynamic, intensely site-focused, and personal piece of architecture.

11:30am   DOG RUN, in Art (Mason County) Texas, also designed by Tom Hurt, AIA of Hurt Partners Architects for a novelist and attorney, Scott Zesch. This modest 1700 SF house is built on a remote ranch site on the Llano River and is built around a generous central hall constructed mostly from the rubble of the Scott's ancestral home located nearby on the same family ranch. The Hall opens the house to the outdoors with 5' x 10' pivoting windows at either end and multi-functions as entry foyer, library, family photo gallery, and bunk room -- three beds fold out of its walls - allowing Scott to quarter his friends who travel across the country to visit him and this remarkably beautiful and serene landscape.

1:00pm    LUNCH AT AUGUST E's
in Fredricksburg, Texas  Designed by Andy Bray of Mustard Architectural Designs and Interior Designer Jackie Currie, August E's successfully marries extraordinary cuisine and exemplary service in an exquisite contemporary setting.  We will enjoy a menu especially designed for our visit.

3:30pm      CAMP LUCY, near Dripping Springs.  Part of a majestic 275-acre ranch, this unique venue site was designed by award-winning firms RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture and Jackson & McElhaney Architects in collaboration with the owner/developer Whit Hanks. CampLucy includes a chapel, open air pavilion, brick courtyard, catering kitchen, bride's cottage, and groom's quarters. At the heart of the project is a 19th century French Colonial chapel which Hanks painstakingly imported from Vietnam and reconstructed on site, adding locally gathered fieldstone.  Another church structure was used to create a pavilion which incorporates re-purposed roof tile from the Bexar County courthouse.

$40 per person (includes lunch)
