PHIUS 2018+ Passive House Tour

July's CRAN tour will feature a house that is piloting the PHIUS 2018+ Passive House certification.  The tour, lead by Trey Farmer, AIA of Forge Craft Architecture + Design and Blake Smith of Clean Tag, LLC will highlight the benefits of above code air tightness, building assemblies, and balanced ventilation.  Participants will learn about challenges of detailing air tight assemblies and get to participate in a blower door air leakage test.

Learning objectives:

  1. Learn about PHIUS 2018+ Passive house certification, what the metrics are that must be met and what it's benefits are to the occupants
  2. Understand what balanced ventilation is and why it matters for occupant health and energy efficiency
  3. Learn about high performance construction methods used in a passive house and what some of the challenges and benefits are to using them
  4. Experience a blower door air leakage test and understand what it measures, why it is done and what the benefits are to an ultra air-tight house

Lunch generously sponsored by Huber Engineered Woods.

The Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN) is a resource for those that practice residential architecture. Montly meetings usually consist of a project tour, continuing education, and lunch. Our meetings and events are open to everyone, and we invite you to become more involved with CRAN.
