COTE/AIAU Component + Sustainability Education Live Series

AIA Austin COTE is partnering with AIAU to bring you a four-part Component + Sustainability Education Live Series. The four sessions will showcase and facilitate discussions around some of AIAU’s premier sustainability content focused on materials, AIA 2030, health, and resiliency. Each session will offer a preview of an AIAU education series followed by a panel discussion with industry experts. View the series here.

Series Overview: Material selection is a core service provided by architects, but that process is far from simple. The AIAU series, Materials Matter, untangles the complexities of that process. The key? Materials transparency. When you know everything you can about the materials you use, you’re able to make the best product decisions for projects, people, and the environment. The five courses in the series cover different types of impacts, and best practices for reducing these impacts, from industry-best instructors.

You wouldn’t buy a car without checking its gas mileage, so why wouldn’t you want to know what goes into your building? This session will give a preview of the first course, “The Big Idea”, which outlines the potential health and environmental impacts of the products that go into our buildings and explains key drivers pushing transparency in the marketplace. We will be joined by three esteemed panelists who will offer great insight into how they see the building materials industry changing how these changes apply in real practice.
