Concordia University Texas is a private, coeducational institution of liberal arts and sciences offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Concordia also offers an Accelerated Degree Program for part-time students and adult returning students.

Founded in 1926, Concordia is affiliated with The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod; all faiths are welcome.

Concordia’s main campus is currently located on approximately 400 acres in northwest Austin with three other centers in San Antonio, Houston and Fort Worth and a satellite center in central Austin.  Concordia University Texas is one of the 13 schools in the Concordia System throughout the United States. The 250 acres of their NW Austin campus is a native habitat preserve.

In 2005, Concordia University selected the firm of HS&A to manage the campus relocation project (from their downtown location – between 34th and 35th just west of IH-35) and help in the selection of design firms.  Three Austin-area firms were chosen to handle various aspects of the project. The Bommarito Group was invited to produce an extensive program and due diligence study for Concordia to evaluate the feasibility of moving the entire campus to the former Schlumberger site.  The Bommarito Group also provided an extensive inventory of existing furnishings purchased with property, provided schematic designs for all six existing buildings; and was entrusted with the interior renovation of several of them.

Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects was selected to develop a 30-year Campus Master Plan that would provide a cohesive plan for growth appropriate to the site and the existing architecture. The Master Plan organized the campus into four distinctive districts:  Academic, Student Life, Residential and Athletic. Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects was also responsible for the exterior renovation of all existing campus buildings, as well as the design and renovation of Building B from facilities building to student center, theater, bookstore and facilities shop.

Jackson Galloway Associates was selected to design the new athletics facilities for the campus, which consisted of lighted ballfields and grandstands, a ticket and concessions building, and a 30,000 square foot Fieldhouse, composed of a competition gymnasium, locker rooms, staff offices, and training facilities.  Jackson Galloway also designed a future prayer chapel and a guardhouse, which serves as the entryway to the campus.

With the participation of all the teams involved, the dynamic vision for the relocation of Concordia to its new site allowed the University to achieve growth and success far beyond the original expectation.
