Austin Energy Presents:
Energy Conservation Audit Disclosure (ECAD) Ordinance & Performance Modeling Incentive (PMI)
With its Repositioning initiative the AIA seeks to strengthen its role in driving leadership opportunities for architects. The AIA Sustainability Leadership Opportunity Scan identifies four focus issues to achieve this outcome: Energy, Materials, Design+Health, and Resilience. For Energy, the emphasis is on energy performance through adoption of the 2030 Challenge, the use of Energy Modeling and Measured Performance (The City of Austin is one of only 8 cities requiring energy performance disclosure). ECAD project managers, Jessica Galloway and Tim Kisner, will present the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure ordinance, Austin City Code Chapter 6-7, approved on November of 2008. The ordinance addresses four markets; single-family, multifamily, condominium, and commercial. Participants will learn about the value of the ECAD ordinance including the background, structure, compliance methodology and relationship to the City of Austin’s Climate Protection Plan.
Shelly Comer Murray - AIA, PMI project manager, will give a brief overview of AIA’s energy focus and commitment. She will also provide information about the Austin Energy Green Building Performance Modeling Incentive, a financial incentive to assist in utilizing early energy modeling as a design tool. Afterward, an open discussion will explore the adoption of early energy modeling into design practice and integrated teams.
