Join the Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) for a presentation by Rebecca Read and Angel Alvarez. They will be reviewing progress on licensing rule revision/FGI adoption, current trends, recent changes, and common issues.

Rebecca Read has been with Texas Health and Human Services Commission (formerly Texas Department of State Health Services), in the Architectural Review Group (ARG) for over 9 years, serving as Manager for 4 years. She practiced in architectural firms for over 17 years, specializing in healthcare and institutional architecture. She is a graduate of University of Texas in Austin.
 
Angel Alvarez has been with Texas Health and Human Services Commission (formerly Texas Department of State Health Services), in the Architectural Review Group (ARG) for nearly 4 years as an Inspector. He practiced in architectural firms for over 25 years, specializing in healthcare, commercial, and industrial architecture.

Learning Objectives for this continuing education event are:

  1. Identify FAQ’s and describe THHSC’s viewpoint regarding common medical equipment replacements within existing healthcare facilities to improve patient experience/outcomes.
  2. Identify FAQ’s and recognize THHSC’s viewpoint regarding common functional changes within existing healthcare facilities to improve the patient/staff/visitor experience.
  3. State current trends in healthcare, specifically “small” hospitals and their impact on patient health, safety, and welfare.
  4. Describe common field deficiencies and NFPA 2012.
