The Call for Entries for the 2020 Design Awards has been extended through May 21, 2020. Download the Call for Entries packet here. A full submission packet will include the Sustainability Scorecard, available here.

We have extended the Early Bird fee for submissions until the deadline.

The AIA Austin Design Awards recognize outstanding work completed by AIA Austin members that spans a diverse spectrum of project sizes, types, locations, and clients. This year's Awards Celebration event date is TBD.

Each year, an invited jury of respected architects reviews submitted projects and selects exceptional projects. Compelling projects are commended for their architectural design, technical ability, environmental response, and/or social impact. Innovation is recognized at multiple scales, from urban strategies down to detail resolution. This year we want to highlight the importance of sustainable design—the jury may select an award winner to also receive a commendation for sustainable design at their discretion.

This Year's Design Awards Jurors:

•    Cathleen McGuigan; Architectural Record, New York City
•    Patricia Rhee, FAIA; Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects, Culver City, CA
•    Weston Walker, AIA; Studio Gang, New York City
•    Frank Zilm, FAIA; University of Kansas School of Architecture, Planning, and Design, Lawrence, KS

Learn more about the jurors here.

The jury's selections are announced and honored at the annual Awards Celebration. Winning projects are promoted within the Austin community, cultivating an ongoing public interest in architectural excellence.

Sponsorship Opportunities:

Bowerbird:

As part of this year’s awards program, we have teamed up with BowerBird, an online submission platform that enables architects to engage easily and professionally with architectural media across the world.

The purpose for using BowerBird is to help entrants get more editorial coverage for their Awards entries. The platform is a subscription service, however our agreement with BowerBird means that if you choose to opt in you will receive your first two months free. You’ll be able to create dedicated press kits for your projects and you can share them directly with journalists through the platform.

After the submission deadline you will receive a phone call from BowerBird to explain how the program works and what you need to do to make use of this offer. This component of the program is optional but recommended, as it allows you to get publicity around your project and not just the Awards program itself.
