Thank You to all the Firms that participated in the DV 3X2 Internship this summer

AIA Design Voice Committee would like to thank all the Firms that participated in the DV 3X2 Internship this summer…

The internship week this summer ran from July 11-15 and we had 10 firms volunteer to participate with 10 student interns. All the interns were KIPP high school students or alumni, from grades 9 to rising sophomores in college. Even given the short length the visits, the students seemed have a good understanding about the variety of roles an architect can play and, more or less, what the deliverables may look like – they were really inspired by their experiences. The following firms hosted students:

BOKA Powell

Clayton & Little

Design Workshop

Dick Clark Architecture

hatch + ulland owen architects

OPA Design Studio

Sixthriver Architects

STG Design

Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with the students in the program!

A big thank you to Pliny Fisk and Gail Vittori from the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems who graciously hosted the DV3x2 End of Summer Finale where they delivered an inspiring presentation to the students and their families – we are so grateful for their time and for sharing their facilities with the students. We would like to offer our gratitude to KIPP Alumni Counselor, Laura Chrisco, who co-coordinated the program. Laura also applied for and was awarded a grant from the Foundation for Architecture which was awarded to a DV3x2 Intern who excelled in the program and wrote a winning essay at the end of the program. This student was Jose Morales who is a rising sophomore at Texas Lutheran University. There were so many folks who contributed to making this program a success and we look forward to another great internship week next year! If you would like to participate in or help coordinate the program next year please contact Catherine French at
