Leadership Development Program

Proceeds from the Women in Architecture exhibit and associated events will fund a Leadership Development Program to support the growth of all AIA Austin members. Program content will build on the successes of similar leadership programs at other AIA chapters and will aim to complement existing AIA offerings in Texas.  Monthly sessions will provide professional development training on a broad range of communications and leadership topics, and will vary in delivery to promote both sharing of expert knowledge and opportunities for deliberate practice.  Participants will be expected to serve as ambassadors, immediately applying and growing their leadership skills by leading their own training sessions for a group of peers at their firm (or a group of small firms).  The ambassador model not only strengthens skills learned through practice but also amplifies the program’s impact by extending the knowledge to a wider audience.  In addition, program metrics and feedback will be gathered to support continual improvement.


The program will be open to all AIA Austin members, but aims especially to level the playing field for women and minorities by ensuring their representation in leadership conversations and providing skills and tools that will lead to their professional success (including licensure, career advancement, and award recognition).
