Design Voice 3x2 (DV3x2)

The AIA Austin Design Voice Committee began the DV3x2 Internship program in 2009. Last year, 43 students and 33 firms participated in the program, which continues to grow each year. DV3x2 was initiated to give high school students interested in Architecture, Engineering and Construction a glimpse of the daily life of professionals prior to delving into a university program.

The DV3x2 Internship offers participants the opportunity to intern with designers at a minimum of 3 different Austin firms for one week during the summer. At each firm, the interns shadow the professionals for 2 hours - learning about their processes and office culture to experience the daily life of the firm. Many design disciplines are offered in the program; including Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Construction Management.

Each DV3x2 program begins with a kick-off at the University of Texas School of Architecture followed by 3 days of internships, and ending with the tour & talk finale.

Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and attend a high school in the Austin area. For questions about participating in DV3x2 as an intern or a firm, email
