Box City

AIA Austin is pleased to announce the return of Box City!

In celebration of Earth Day, the Architecture in Schools program will host a Box City event at Mueller Farmers’ Market on Sunday, April 28th, 11am - 2pm. Children learn about the design and construction industry by sketching designs for their buildings, requesting permits, and constructing those buildings out of recycled cardboard boxes and various other recycled materials. A city grid serves as blank canvases, awaiting students’ creativity to develop a thriving city.

Age oriented activities will be available for the duration of the event, with the Box City activities geared towards grades 3-6. Additional activities will be on site for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

• Attendance is open, but spaces are limited.
• Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• The activity is approximately 45minutes long
