About DV3x2

The AIA Austin Design Voice Committee began the DV3x2 Internship program in 2009. Since then, 29 students and 24 firms have participated in the program. DV3x2 was initiated to give high school students interested in design a glimpse of the daily life of a design office prior to delving into a university program.

The Design Voice 3x2 (DV3x2) Internship offers participants the opportunity to intern with designers at a minimum of 3 different Austin design firms for one week during the summer. At each firm, the interns shadow the designers for 2 hours - learning about their processes and office culture to experience the daily life at a design firm. Many design discipline types are offered in the program; including Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Structural Engineering.

Each DV3x2 program begins with a KICK-OFF at the Austin Center for Architecture, followed by the INTERNSHIP WEEK, and ending with the TOUR & TALK FINALE.

Applicants must be at least 14 years of age and attend a high school in the Austin area. For questions about participating in DV3x2 as an intern or a firm, email aiadv3x2@gmail.com.

APPLICATIONS FOR 2017 WILL BE ACCEPTED MARCH 20th THROUGH APRIL 24th. PLEASE EMAIL US AT aiadv3x2@gmail.com IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR AN INTERNSHIP.
