This senior level position will be an integral part of our leadership team and will oversee an important part of our Texas growth strategy across our 5 major business operating units. Your Key Responsibilities

The Growth Leader will be a senior industry representative for Stantec’s Texas market. The overall responsibilities include providing leadership for the following elements in accordance with the Texas 2025 Growth plan: net revenue growth, strategic hiring plan, external and internal branding, and inspiring staff morale and engagement.  Further details of these responsibilities are described below:

Business Development / Client Management (60-70%)

  • Coordinate with the applicable business line (BL) leadership and account managers to lead cross BL collaboration of key initiatives and pursuits across Texas, including Stantec’s annual Business Planning process.   
  • Lead internal and external branding, working with the Marketing and Public Relations group to focus on attracting talent and increasing market presence.
  • Coordinate closely with business line leadership to recruit strategic hires.  
  • Lead regular communication and collaboration meetings with regional and business unit sector leaders and regional marketing.
  • Technical oversight of the proposal process including hands-on participation with fee and schedule negotiations.  
  • Participate in and/or lead pursuit teams for key targeted top opportunities in Texas.  
  • Accountable for major pursuit budgets and sales team’s performance.
  • Leadership and support in identifying key teaming partners, assisting in the development of the overall project delivery team, and collaboration across Stantec’s departments in expanding Stantec’s market share.
  • Key performance indicators:
    • Net revenue growth as described in the Texas 2025 growth plan
    • Key account performance (Wins, NR)
    • Staff growth
    • Staff engagement survey results (Texas offices)
    • Business line collaboration

Project Responsibilities (15-20%)

  • Actively participate in selected projects on a technical or advisory level to maintain credibility with clients and contribute toward utilization goals.
  • Occasionally work as PM or Project Sponsor to oversee projects. Assure projects executed for Texas clients meet client satisfaction targets.
  • Potential roles on projects including Project Director, Project Principal, or Senior Project Manager.

Strategic Thinking

  • Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the industry, market, and client base.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local regulatory and economic drivers to understand where opportunities exist and to help our clients develop short and long-term planning.
  • Anticipate medium and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.
  • Assist in the growth of all Stantec sectors in Texas by identifying and supporting development of new service areas aimed at strengthening our package of services in the sector to satisfy changing market conditions.
  • Provide input into the regional and BC annual business development and budget process as needed.

Enhance our Texas Practice

  • You will be part of the senior leadership team in Texas and will actively assist in the recruitment and retention of top talent for all business lines.  
  • Represent Stantec’s Texas market in corporate strategic growth initiatives and campaigns.

Professional Symposiums/Publications/Webinars  

  • Being seen, heard, and read enhances Stantec’s brand.
  • Identify appropriate panel and presentation opportunities.
  • Serve as a highly visible Stantec representative at sector conferences and industry associations and maintain the appropriate competitive connectivity externally in external associations and networks.  
  • Develop and maintain a broad range of client relationships within key sectors identified.
  • Innovate and enhance Stantec’s capabilities, footprint, and integrated approach in each sector across Texas.
  • Collaborate with Stantec’s marketing and public relations teams to promote Stantec’s brand and offerings.
  • Work within an identified budget for participation in industry events, panels, or conferences.

Qualifications - External

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Texas market with established working relationships with pertinent organizations including Federal, State, and municipal governments.
  • Achievement oriented with proven success of leading year over year organic growth.
  • Advanced and proven business development skills with an entrepreneurial orientation, including experience negotiating, building, and maintaining productive relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, technical specialty, business, or marketing from an accredited institution.  
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of related work experience including design, engineering, planning, leadership, and business development experience preferred
  • Registered professional licensure in Texas is a plus
