Our Austin BES/Terracon office is seeking a senior level architect or engineer or construction professional with experience in investigation, design, testing, and repair of new and existing building enclosure systems such as roofing, walls, fenestration, below-grade waterproofing, etc. Candidate should be able to develop and have established business relationships with clients and manufacturer’s. We are looking for an experienced professional to join our dynamic and collaborative team and support our commercial, institutional, and multifamily projects.

General Duties & Responsibilities May Include:

  • Building Evaluations and Failure Investigations
  • Peer Review and Design Assistance
  • Hygrothermal Modeling, Energy Modeling, and other Simulation Tools
  • Construction Observations (preconstruction meetings, mockups, installation review)
  • Acceptance and Diagnostic Testing (water penetration, air leakage, roof uplift, etc.)
  • Litigation Assistance, Support
  • Prepare proposals, develop scope of services, establish fees, manage projects
  • Develop and deliver high level building science technical presentations
  • As a technical expert, manage or consult on complex projects, providing leadership/expertise to project teams and other service lines
  • Drive business with new and existing clients and actively participate in the implementation of marketing strategies
  • Strive to be a subject matter expert and recognized leader in market specific professional associations

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 to 10 years' experience in building enclosure design, review, and assessments
  • Professional Engineer (PE), NCARB Registered Architect (RA), or RCI designation as an RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC
  • B.S. in Engineering, B.S. in Architectural Engineering, B.S. in Construction Management, or Bachelor of Architecture in Building Science/Building Enclosures/ Historic Preservation is preferred
  • Air Barrier Association of America “ABAA”, ABAA Inspector, Certified EIFS inspector, AAMA Fenestration Master, Certified Thermographer is a plus
  • Expertise in building enclosure systems and building structural systems
  • Familiarity with various building roofing and waterproofing systems
  • Experience in building enclosure restoration and consulting involving managing rainwater and water vapor transmission; air barrier design; and controlling energy consumption by managing heat gain and loss through the building envelope
  • Experience working at heights on suspended scaffolding and aerial lifts, observing mid- to high-rise building facades and roofs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
