Wheelhouse Design is looking for a talented Interior Designer to join our collaborative design team, working under the direction of the Lead Designer on projects ranging from consultations to custom new construction. The position is full-time (32+ hours per week), starting as a contract position with transition opportunity to full employment. Compensation is commensurate with experience and competitive with the local market.

- Consistent ability to work independently and as part of a team on projects of varying scales, exhibiting strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to follow a task to completion
- Ability to be proactive and maintain a positive attitude with a resourceful approach
- Strong eye for design and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of the entire design process, including experience with space planning, design development, finish and fixture specifications, furnishings and installations
- Must be able to work with urgent deadlines, multiple priorities and multiple team members

- 2-5 years of experience as a design team member in an Interior Design and/or Architectural firm is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent field experience (5+ years)
- Advanced computer skills to include AutoCAD (Mac platform preferred), SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite

- Survey existing spaces by obtaining accurate on-site dimensions and photos for reference throughout the project
- Create and revise floor plans, lighting and furniture plans, and detailed interior elevations
- Select all fixtures, finishes and furnishings that align with project design and budget parameters, across a variety of styles
- Ensure furniture plans meet aesthetic and spatial requirements
- Create design and finish presentations for internal and client review, ensuring presentation graphics meet studio standards
- Create specifications and schedules as required for finishes and fixtures
- Review plumbing and appliance specifications, millwork shop drawings & vendor bids
- Attend site visits throughout the construction process as necessary
- Track procurement for projects of varying scales from purchasing through installation, working directly with vendors and installers as required
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with new and existing clients, general contractors, vendors, trades, and other design disciplines
- Maintain willingness to be flexible and creative
