In partnership with the executive leadership of the State Supported Living Centers and State Hospitals, this provides leadership that supports the transformation of the Health and Specialty Care System. The Health and Specialty Care System provides state of the art care on 23 campuses across Texas. This system depends on a highly effective and integrated network of buildings used for clinical care, support/logistics services, administration, and a complex network of mechanical, electrical and water systems. The Director of Maintenance and Construction reports to the Director of Facility Support Services and performs highly responsible administrative work involving planning, directing, organizing, evaluating and coordinating the department’s project managers, support staff and administrative functions requiring proven effective leadership and managerial skills. The position is headquartered in Austin with staff that are highly mobile and staff located in offices in other Texas cities.

Must be a Registered Architect or Engineer in the State of Texas or qualify for licensure within 6 months.
