HOMES TOUR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

AIA Austin's 24th Annual Homes Tour is taking place October 2-3, 2010 from Noon to 6:00pm each day.

The tour requires hundreds of volunteers to make it run smoothly.  We need your help!

Three hours of help will get you a ticket to the tour.

Event Design Voice Volunteer Day at Manos de Cristo

March 6, 2010 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

This event has already occurred.

AIA Design Voice partnered with Manos de Cristo to design and build computer desks.

We designed 8 desks with computer tower stands on a very low budget for a very small space that were able to be constructed by volunteers.

Construction time of the desks took two Saturdays, March 6th and 13th 10 am - 2pm.

Extra materials were used to make a projector stand in a couple of hours on an additional Saturday, March 20th, 10am-12pm.

Coming in June is Housing Works' Affordable Housing Tour.  Be sure to check out their website for event information.  Last year's after tour networking event at the Long Center was especially successful.

Architecture in Schools 2010 Program Volunteers NEEDED!!

AIA Austin needs volunteers to teach elementary school kids for the Fall Semester of the 2010-2011 school year.  The Architecture in Schools program is a eight-week course taught to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in their classroom, using a curriculum developed by the AIA Austin.  We need volunteers who can devote an hour of their time every week for classroom instruction (plus travel time and instruction preparation).  Classroom instruction begins in September and runs until the first week of November.
