Mission:
Develop and promote public programs to raise public awareness of the value of architecture  through Monthly meetings at the Design Center, Code workshop, Compatibility Discussion with guests from CNU, Comp plan education efforts.

Meetings:
The Urban Deisgn / Government Affairs Committee (UDGA) meets monthly, the Fourth Wednesday of the month at the Austin Center for Architecture located at 12th Street and West Avenue.  The meeting times are usually 11:45 AM unless notified otherwise.

Recently you have seen news regarding plans by TxDOT for possible changes in  Downtown Austin as part of the mobility solutions for IH35.  The Board of Directors of AIA Austin via President Jana McCann, FAIA, has notified TxDOT of our interest in seeing TxDOT proceed with a thorough investigation and vetting of the various concepts including the proposed "depressed" Downtown freeway segment shown in recent IH-35 public meetings and which is being termed as the "Reconnecting Austin" alternative (such as that presented by Sinclair Black, FAIA.)   McCann further stated that we would like to un

Civic Architects

Architects enable reductions in City of Austin permit backlog:

agreement among Residential Permitting staff, architects, and attorneys so as to streamline residential permitting without burdening the architect with excessive liability.  This is huge, and we are already seeing the impact on the permitting backlog.>>
