Bouldin Residence on Austin Cool House Tour

This private green home in Austin, Texas earned a 5 Star Rating from Austin Energy Green Building Program and will now be available for viewing on the Austin Cool House Tour June 7, 2015.

The home has a very distinctive design that fits into the shape of the lot. The windows open towards beautiful views of downtown Austin.

These features contributed to the high score of the 5 Star Rating:

-100% of the steel used for the structural system is recycled, some directly reused from old factories and warehouses.

Flashflooding and Floodplain Management

The April Cote Seminar on Resiliency welcomed Jameson Courtney of Watershed Protection Department. He presented “Understanding Flash-flooding” power-point attached. Of note are the Austin Code requirements and how building design relates to flood insurance. You can find Courtney’s contact information on the last slide if you need more information.

COTE Committee April Presentation: Floodplain Management through design

On Monday, April 13th,  AIA Austin COTE continues the Resiliency program with Watershed Protection Department presenting: Flash-floods and Floodplain Management through Design (1 hour CEU) This includes the rules of the National Flood Insurance Program and the higher standards adopted by the City of Austin to minimize or mitigate the risks posed by the threat of flash flooding.
