Event AIA Austin 2019 Summer Conference

Each year in August, AIA Austin provides the design community with an educational conference offering a course selection curated by members, inspiring keynote speakers, and a design expo with local vendors. A design expo will be open during lunch on both days of the conference, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., highlighting local and regional companies who are offering new and exciting design-related products and/or services.

Join Eva Schone and Luanne Stovall for a discussion of arguably the most influential design movement and school of the 20th century, the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus secured a firm place in history by defining a new way of living and shaping design education in the process. In the mere fourteen years of its existence between the two World Wars, the Bauhaus created and produced an impressive multidisciplinary body of work that transitioned from visionary to classic over the past century, embodying the paradigm shift from craft production to mass production.

Leading the Roundtable discussion will be AIA Board of Directors at Large Member, Matthew Ryan. Matthew is a Partner at Allensworth and Porter, an Austin based construction law firm, as well as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas. At each tour and panel we learn the challenges and opportunities that a diverse housing stock presents and visibly what those housing types look like in our neighborhoods.
