COTE Committee April Presentation: Floodplain Management through design

On Monday, April 13th,  AIA Austin COTE continues the Resiliency program with Watershed Protection Department presenting: Flash-floods and Floodplain Management through Design (1 hour CEU) This includes the rules of the National Flood Insurance Program and the higher standards adopted by the City of Austin to minimize or mitigate the risks posed by the threat of flash flooding.

Austin’s Committee on the Environment is following the AIAs Sustainability Opportunity Leadership Scan (SLOS) report that highlights four focus areas. This year the focus is Resiliency and we have a series of seminars for the year.

AIA Austin and its Building Enclosure Council (BEC: Austin) are very pleased to present a special half-day daylighting workshop with keynote speaker Lisa Heschong presenting the latest principles to optimize the energy performance and visual comfort from cost-effective top lighting and side lighting techniques in both new and retrofit construction. Also with case studies presented by Austin architects and UT School of Architecture Professors Adam Pyrek and Matt Fajkus.
