Civic Architects here at AIA Austin tirelessly volunteer to influence and shape the policies and legislation that impact our designed environment.  I have yet to find another City where architects are so passionately, constructively active in a broad range of local policy.  

 

As our City Hall debates disclosure rules for lobbying, I want to take a moment to celebrate some new and growing relationships that have helped us get heard this past season:

COTE Committee April Presentation: Floodplain Management through design

On Monday, April 13th,  AIA Austin COTE continues the Resiliency program with Watershed Protection Department presenting: Flash-floods and Floodplain Management through Design (1 hour CEU) This includes the rules of the National Flood Insurance Program and the higher standards adopted by the City of Austin to minimize or mitigate the risks posed by the threat of flash flooding.
