Great Streets, Bastrop, and a Fair

--President Elect Jana McCann- requested that AIA Austin advocate consistent, connected Great Streets implementation on the primary “walkable” downtown streets identified in the newly adopted downtown plan.  We are drafting a recommendation to AIA Austin executive committee.  This will be a letter to City staff and council urging that the Downtown Plan be codified into an ordinance so that the design and construction industry can better implement the plan.

Design Month Advocacy

Green Pastures event with AIA National guest Paul Mendelsohn generated some great conversations about public involvement and provides some insight into what we can bring to our next leadership retreat. We talked about bringing our Advocacy Survey respondents in for a November happy hour to listen to their ideas in person. Michael Cowan offered to help.   Stuart and Michael Hsu have been asked to meet with the City about a cost of services report that could impact the future fee structure for building permits.
