AIA Austin 2010 Summer Conference

2010 SUMMER CONFERENCE

I'm very excited about  our education line up this year.  We're happy to bring Keynote Speakers, Kathy Zarsky, Associate AIA of HOLO who on Thursday will present Learning About Biomimicry and introduction to biomimicry as a sensible, eco-friendly approach to design; and, on Friday, Hugh Hochberg of The Coxe Group in Seattle who will present Change or Die! An exploration of the direction of practice and the factors and trends that will influence it.

Architecture in Schools: Volunteers still needed for Fall 2010 Program!!

AIA Austin needs volunteers to teach elementary school kids for the Fall Semester of the 2010-2011 school year.  The Architecture in Schools program is a eight-week course taught to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in their classroom, using a curriculum developed by the AIA Austin.  We need volunteers who can devote an hour of their time every week for classroom instruction (plus travel time and instruction preparation).  Classroom instruction begins in September and runs until the first week of November.

Partnership Forum Application Deadline - July 9th

AIA Austin is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Partnership Forum geared towards ambitious young Architects and Architectural Interns.  The AIA Austin Partnership Forum provides an ongoing opportunity to share and discuss issues related to the personal and professional leadership development of Architects and Architectural Interns with a group of ambitious peers and an experienced mentor. Participants should be interested in matters related to becoming a leader within their own firm or in developing a new practice.

National AIA Election Information

This year in Miami, AIA Convention delegates will elect a slate of officers to lead the AIA and the profession into the future.
