Fast Company magazine called Gensler “one of America’s most influential design firms.” Michael J. Stanton, former President of the AIA, said “Gensler is America’s foremost collaborative practice. The firm exemplifies how the creative mix of disciplines, all with ‘place’ as their focus, adds richness and value to buildings and their settings.”

Founded in 1965, Gensler is a global architecture, interior design, and strategic planning firm with more than 6,000 professionals in 48 locations throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The firm has over 3,500 active clients in virtually every industry.

Since our beginning, we have been committed to the community, and building our local practice with knowledge from around the globe. We’ve helped companies use design to strengthen and enhance their business goals. We have created brands and identities, designed workplaces, and converted outdated spaces into vibrant facilities, all while finding new ways to enhance the way people live, work and play. We have been at the forefront of forward-thinking design for innovative workplaces, health & wellness facilities, hospitality environments, retail communities, headquarters, and so much more.

In 2007, Gensler established a permanent presence in Austin, and the firm hasn’t been quite the same ever since. Yes, we are a one-firm-firm, but we like to do things a little differently in Austin. Over the past twelve years we have grown from five to 100+ professionals, and worked on some of our city’s most high profile projects, including Domain Northside, the Convention Center Expansion, Greenwater Master Plan and 500 West 2nd Office Tower, the Austin Bergstrom Airport Expansion, and Third+Shoal vertical mixed use development. Our office also has a strong focus in workplace design. We have been fortunate to work with a broad range of wonderful clients, from homegrown Austin start-ups to large national brands looking to take advantage of that unique Austin vibe. We have provided a full range of design, planning, and consultancy services to clients such as Facebook, Hewlett Packard, Visa, Condé Nast, and YETI, among many others.

The Austin office is managed and directed by Todd Runkle, RID, and Kirk Funkhouser, AIA.Using a collaborative model, the Austin office leadership sets strategy and policy, integrating our practices, studios, design, and delivery teams to serve our clients effectively on a 24/7 basis.
