Design Voice
Mission
Design Voice enables the greater design community to connect and collaborate with organizations and individuals interested in and engaged in housing advocacy, development and community building in Austin.
Meetings
We will not hold any meetings in December because of hectic schedules during the holidays. The meetings will reconvene on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6 pm at the Center for Architecture, beginning on January 19, 2011.
Programs in 2011
Currently, we are in the process of scheduling programs that focus on three initiatives: affordable housing, professional design internships for high school students, and partnerships with local organizations focusing on homeless children. These programs are described in the posted blogs. We invite anyone who has interest in contributing to the initiatives listed above to attend the monthly meetings or email the co-chairs listed below. Design Voice is a forum in which new projects or efforts are welcome as well – bring them forward!
Catherine French, AIA - Chair
Ellen Hunt, AIA - Chair
Currently, we are in the process of developing tools that allow us to connect volunteers with organizations who can benefit from the assistance of architects and the greater design community. It is our goal to make the process and experience of volunteering effective and enjoyable – we hope to be the mediating link between the giving and receiving parties.
In attendance: Eric Lam, Ellen Hunt, David Conley
